About Due North Marketing

The publisher

Due North Marketing is run by TJ and Monique Quesnel. We work with Northern Ontario tourism businesses and publish websites that help travellers find lodges, camps and outdoor trips.

This website serves Ontario residents, hunters visiting from another province or country, and readers learning about the animal. The hunting pages cover planning, equipment, calling, scouting, recovery and meat care. The biology pages cover food, habitat, range, breeding, antlers, calves and survival.

A camp listing is a place to start a conversation with the operator. The operator confirms the current package, tag arrangements, dates, access and services. Bookings and payments take place directly with the business.

How to use the guides

Start with Tags & Licences and Seasons & Rules. Match the hunting unit and season to your own tag. Visitors should also read Visiting Hunters.

The field guides give practical preparation steps. They do not replace hunter education, safe equipment handling or instruction from a qualified guide. Use the official Ontario summary and the instructions on your licence and tag for the actual hunt.

Wildlife sources are linked beside the reading. Survey numbers keep their survey years and counting methods. Historical book passages keep their author and publication year.

The older moose book

Our historical source is Habits, Haunts and Anecdotes of the Moose and Illustrations from Life, published in 1901 by Charles Albert Jones, writing as Burt Jones. We use it for dated historical accounts of calling and time in the woods.

Its stories, population claims and stated dates are not used as current Ontario rules or present-day survey results. Read the calling post for a short example of how that history is used.
