Ontario Moose Hunting Regions

Choose a camp and check its WMU.

Start with the camp, the access, and the actual hunting unit. A lodge’s postal address can be well away from its outpost or moose hunting area. Ask for the WMU and a map before making a deposit.

Northwestern Ontario

Big North Lodge’s moose hunt is at Roger Lake in WMU 3, rather than a hunt based at its Minaki main lodge. Its advertised self-guided package includes flying, accommodation, and boat, motor, and fuel.

Lac Seul Evergreen Lodge at Ear Falls advertises rifle and archery hunts with bull and cow tags in WMUs 3, 4, and 5. Wilderness Air Escapes, based in Vermilion Bay, lists unguided fly-in hunts in those same units.

Webster’s Lodge has a Sioux Lookout address, but its moose page identifies WMU 1C for adult tags. Ask for the camp and pickup location. Lac Seul’s Reel Inn describes accommodation for Ontario resident moose hunters and referrals to guides.

For a fly-in booking, put baggage limits, weather delays, meat-flying fees, and the return pickup into the written plan.

Anderson’s Lodge advertises moose hunts at northeastern Lac Seul outposts in WMU 4. Thunderhook Fly-Ins runs fly-in outpost hunts from Armstrong into the Wabakimi area; its package lists game transport and cooler storage at the floatplane base. Confirm the exact outpost, WMU and tag before booking.

Longlac & Geraldton

Lochlomond Lodge near Longlac advertises rifle and archery moose hunting and a cabin package. Wild Goose Lake Resort near Geraldton lists moose packages and accommodation. Wild Goose places the resort in WMU 19, across the highway from WMU 21A.

Do not assume a road crossing leaves you in the same unit. A tag for one WMU does not authorize a hunt in the neighbouring unit.

Wawa, Chapleau & Missanabie

Northern Walleye Lodge on Dog Lake advertises moose hunts in WMU 32. Normandy Lodge on Kabenung Lake and Kanipahow Wilderness Resort near Chapleau also advertise moose hunting, but their pages give fewer current tag details.

Moose Horn Lodge welcomes resident hunters who already hold adult tags for WMUs 31, 32, 35, or 38. Its cottage listing is a different offer from an outfitter-tag package.

Hunting is prohibited inside the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve. Possessing firearms is also prohibited, except for the legal exemptions for residents on their own land and qualifying road travel with firearms unloaded and encased. Check its boundary on the official map ↗ before planning a route.

Gogama, Shining Tree & Elk Lake

Green Wilderness Lodge’s moose page places its hunting in WMU 29. Bay Wolf Camp describes access to WMUs 29 and 40, with WMU 39 nearby, and says hunters obtain their own tags.

Golden Eagle Camp lists WMU 40 and nearby WMUs 28 and 29, with own-tag stays and tag packages when available. Grey Owl Camps at Biscotasing lists a cow-tag package, cooler, and processing room. Long Point Lodge near Elk Lake advertises moose hunting; ask for the unit and tag arrangements.

Road access, boat access, and the camp’s available equipment belong in the same conversation. An ATV trail on a map is not a promise that your truck can use it.

Argyle Lake Lodge near Matachewan advertises moose hunting in WMU 29 and cottage accommodation. Ask about the current tag route and package.

Temagami, Nipissing, Sudbury & Elliot Lake

Camp Horizon at Field advertises moose hunts. Island Lake Camp on Thistle Lake says hunts depend on current tag availability. Lake Herridge Lodge near Temagami lists housekeeping moose hunting plans.

Mountain View Lodge on Nepewassi Lake tells hunters to obtain their own adult tag for WMU 42. Frontier Lodge near Elliot Lake limits its advertised moose offer to Ontario residents with their own adult tags for WMU 38.

Pick the listing that fits your licence and tag route. An available cottage is not the same thing as an available outfitter tag.

Red Cedar Lake Camp near Marten River lists fall accommodation for Ontario resident hunters with their own tags for WMUs 40 and 41. Rockport Camp & Trailer Park at St. Charles advertises moose hunting in WMU 42; its published offers are dated, so confirm this season’s services.

Cochrane & the Far North

Air Cochrane advertises remote fly-in moose packages in WMU 26, with cabins, boats, motors and fuel. Guiding and meat flights are separate listed services. Get the airbase meeting point and the hunting-area map before travelling.

WMU 26 has different 2026 dates and no bows-only season. Use its own row on Seasons & Rules; do not use the dates for a neighbouring unit.
